Balyurko Stepan Ivanovych was the junior specialist of the Information Protection Service of the 1-st Guard Tank Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergeant.
He was born on 17 February, 1973 in the village Podluby, Emilchinsky district, Zhytomyr region. He graduated a secondary school.
He passed the regular military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In January 2015, he was mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was trained at a training ground in Zhytomyr region. He served as a junior specialist in the Information Security Service of the 1st Specialized Guards Tank Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1815, urban settlement of Goncharivka, Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region).
From June 2015, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He served in the Marjiinka town, Donetsk region. In the battle he got the concussion.
Sergeant Balyurko became ill during the service in the antiterrorist zone, and he, as a patient, was given a vacation home in September 2015. First, at home it turned out that the soldier had inflammation of the lungs. He was sent to a hospital in the city of Zhytomyr, and then to the Kiev hospital, where Stepan Balyurko was diagnosed an encephalitis. The cause of this disease was the contusion received by a serviceman on the front and failure to provide timely medical care. The disease progressed, there was an inflammation of the brain, brain cells began to die, which caused paralysis.
On 18 February, 2016 Sergeant Balyurko died in a hospital from a severe illness that developed on the background of the resulting contusion.
On 19 February, 2016, he was buried in the cemetery of the Podluby village, Emilchinsky district, Zhytomyr region.
