Branovyts‘kyy Ihor Yevhenovych was the gunner 90th separate airmobile battalion 81 th separate airborne brigade of highly mobile airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, soldier.
He was born on 25 April, 1976 in the city Kiev. He graduated the secondary school № 171 of Kyiv (now the Kyiv-Pechersky Lyceum "Leader"), in 1995 - the department of the ET of Kyiv College of Electronic Devices.
He passed the regular military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in a demolition battalion. In 1996, during their military service, in the 901-th separate pontoon bridge company of Ukraine‘s Armed Forces (military unit A4170) he participated in the peacekeeping United Nations mission in the Republic of Angola.
In the winter of 2013-2014 he was on the Independence Square in Kyiv, where he was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity.
In August 2014, he was mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 90th separate airmobile battalion of the 95th separate airmobile brigade of the High-Military Allied Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (from the autumn of 2014 - the 90th separate airmobile battalion is a member of the 81st separate aeromobile brigade of the High-Volunteer Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; the military unit Field post office in 1611, the city of Konstantinovka, Donetsk region).
Since November 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Callsign "Natriy". Participant of the Defense of Donetsk International Airport.
On 20 January, 2015, after undermine by Russian-terrorist groups of the second floor of the new terminal of International airport "Donetsk", Branovyts‘kyy Ihor with two wounded brothers pulled the rest of the wounded from the rubble, and then helped to get out two wounded soldiers from the terminal hundred meters. And he returned to the terminal, taking care of other wounded people who could not move. After capturing the Donetsk airport with militants, he was captured and was taken along with other prisoners in the city of Donetsk. In captivity, the terrorists conducted an interrogation of the Ukrainian military, asked some of them a machine gunman, on which the guys answered that the machine gunman died under the rubble. But such a Russian mercenary did not give a response. Terrorists threatened to shoot all the prisoners in the event of not issuing a machine gunner. Branovyts‘kyy Ihor replied that he was a machine gunner to save his brothers. The fighters immediately began to beat him and mock him.
On 21 January, 2015, after the lengthy torture and the abuse in captivity, Branovyts‘kyy Ihor was shot two shots to the head of Russian terrorists from Rostov-on-Don (Russian Federation) Arsen Pavlov named "Motorola". In March 2015 Branovyts‘kyy Ihor ‘s body was identified through DNA testing.
On 3 April 3, 2015, he was buried at the Berkovets City Cemetery (section number 86, row 11) of the city Kyiv.
On 9 February, 2016 in Kiev on the facade of the building of the Kiev College of electronic devices (street John Paul II, 17), where Branovyts‘kyy Ihor studied, the memorial plaque was established.
According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 349/2016 dated August 23, 2016, for the exceptional personal courage, heroism and self-sacrifice, revealed in the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, the soldier to Branovitsky, Igor Y. was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star".
On 10 November, 2016, the decision of the Kyiv City Council in the Pechersk district of Kyiv Perspective Street was renamed to the street of Branovyts‘kyy Ihor.
He was awarded "Gold Star" (10.11.2016, posthumously), the Order "For courage» III class (23.5.2015, posthumously) and non-governmental award - the Order of "National Hero of Ukraine" (04.06.2015, posthumously).
