Chaban Sergey Petrovichwas the commander of 1st mortar platoon mortar battery of the 5th company of the 2nd Battalion operational purpose (mixed) 3rd Brigade operational quickly designation Eastern-territorial unification of the National Guard of Ukraine, Sergeant.
He was born on April 18, 1969 in Kamenets Khmelnitsky region. Since 1971, he lived in Kyiv. In 1987 he graduated the secondary school in Kyiv.
In the years 1987-1989 he passed the military service in the Armed Forces of the USSR. He served in the Far Eastern Military District.
After serving in the Army for 25 years he worked in the locomotive depot Kyiv-Passenger in Kiev.
In 2014 he was mobilized into the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served as commander of the 1st mortar mortar platoon mortar battery of the 5th company of the 2nd Battalion operational purpose (mixed) 3rd Brigade operational quickly designation Eastern-territorial unification Ukraine National Guard (military unit 3017, Kharkiv).
Since 2014 he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
On February 18, 2015 during the exit from the city of Donetsk region Debaltseve column of military vehicles, which moved the units and Sergeant Shepherd, came under fire from separatists. When firing a rocket hit a car, in which Sergeant Chaban. Sergeant Chaban died. Within 4 months he was considered to be missing. In June 9, 2015 his body was identified through DNA examination in the morgue of Dnipropetrovsk.
On June 15, 2015 he was buried in the Forest Cemetery in Kiev.
He was awarded the Order "For courage» III degree (15.9.2015, posthumously).
