Chubenko Stepan Viktorovych was a volunteer, a student of a comprehensive school № 12 in the city Kramatorsk.
He was Born on 11 November, 1997 in the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. Since 2004 I have been studying at the comprehensive school №12 of the city Kramatorsk.
He was fond of sports. At first he was engaged in the Greco-Roman wrestling, then he was fond of football. He was the goalkeeper of the youth football team "Avangard" in the city Kramatorsk. He played in the local team of the Club of funny and smartyoung people .
With the onset of pro-Russian appearances in Ukraine in 2014, Stepan Chubenko, together with his friends, took part in rallies in the support of the integrity of Ukraine, which was held in the city Kramatorsk. The boys brought water, products, and hygiene products for the Ukrainian soldiers who arrived in the city. During the bombardment, Stepan Chubenko helped to get down into the shelter for the elderly, carrying them with water when the city was cut off from the water supply. Risking his life, the boy took off from the city square the flag of the so-called "Donetsk People‘s Republic".
When in April 2014, Russian militants seized the city Kramatorsk, the mother drove Stepan Chubenko to her parents in Russia, but on 27 May he returned, saying that he did not want to hide "like a rat" in difficult times for Ukraine.
In early July 2014, Stepan Chubenko went to a friend in Kyiv. On 23 July, 2014, the boy boarded a train in Kyiv to return home. He traveled through the city Donetsk. At the railway station of the city Donetsk, the guys detained bandits for the Kerch battalion, according to one version for a yellow-blue ribbon on a backpack and a scarf of the Karpaty football club, for the other - for having started to argue with them against the separation of the country and the formation autonomous republics.
A juvenile boy was taken to a town of Gorbachev-Mikhailovka town of the Mospino city council of the Donetsk region, where he was tortured and beaten for several days with his hands and feet tied up. The fighters offered him to go to their side, but they did not succeed in breaking the guy. On 27 July, 2014 Stepan Chubenko was shot dead with a single shot in the back and head to head.
Immediately after the disappearance of his son, his parents went to Donetsk on his wanted list. They were able to find out that the boy was shot and talked with the leader of the Dnieper Olexandr Zakharchenko, who promised them to find out the body of his son and his killers. At the end of September 2014, the parents came to the news that their son‘s body was found. Exhumation was scheduled for 3 October, 2014, during which the mother recognized her son. She succeeded in getting him sent to Kramatorsk.
On 8 November, 2014 he was buried in the city cemetery of the city Kramatorsk.
He was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd class (06/20/2017, posthumously), non-state award - the Order of "People‘s Hero of Ukraine" (07/05/2016; posthumously).

Since 2015, in the city of Kramatorsk, a mini-football tournament dedicated to the memory of Stepan Chubenko is held annually. On 21 November, 2016, in Kramatorsk, a memorial plaque was established in the building of the general school №12 (Vasyl Stus street, 19), where the hero studied.
