Horyaynov Mykhaylo Hennadiyovych was the commander of Special Operations - diving specialist unit for special operations 73rd Marine Center Special Purpose Naval Forces of Ukraine, the captain of the 3rd rank (posthumously).
He was born on 22 June, 1976 in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. In 1993 he graduated the high school in Kramatorsk.
He was in the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 1 August 1993. In June 1997 he graduated Kyiv Institute of Land Forces (now - National University of Defense of Ukraine), specialty "Fighting application units for special purposes". In June and July 1997 - the disposal of the Deputy Minister of Defense - Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine. From July 1997 to August 1998 he served as commander of Special Operations - diving specialist unit of special operations from August 1998 to July 1999 - the commander of the mining unit underwater mining - diving expert 7-th separate brigade of special operations of the Naval Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1594 town Ochakiv Mykolaiv region). He lived in the village Gnedin of Boryspil district of Kyiv region. He worked in Kiev. Recently - Director of evaluation activity, then the Department of international relations of property, investment, publishing, administrative and economic activities of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. After the war in eastern Ukraine he was involved in volunteer activities. He settled to his house three families of refugees from Donbass.
In February 2015 as a volunteer he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In February-March 2015 was a student of 2 training courses and training (Odessa city). Since March 2015 he was commander of Special Operations - diving specialist unit for special operations 73rd Marine Center Special Purpose Naval Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1594 of Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region).
Since May 2015 he took part in anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
In early June 2015 the command of the detachment of the 73rd special purpose maritime center received a petition from local authorities in the village Chermalyk Volnovakha district, Donetsk region. "Kochivniy" 120-mm mortar in violation of the cease-fire and armistice agreements Minsk continuously fired village and literally terrorized locals. Captain Lieutenant Horyaynov with his team volunteered to make a deposit, identify and destroy violators of the ceasefire in the demilitarized zone.
The object of the attack was the complex of industrial buildings near the village Chermalyk. It was there, according to scout information, based the errant mortar and its calculation. The operation was prepared perfectly. It was a thorough exploration. Each soldier received a detailed briefing, knew their combat task. The group was equipped with all necessary types of equipment and weapons that are in the application ordered by the commander. Lieutenant Horyaynov made special measures for stealth operations.
On 2 June, 2015 at night a group went unnoticed on the object. The enemy kept observation, area was open, but captain - lieutenant Horyaynov came up with this route, which was not revealed by enemy. Approaches from the field where the soldiers had to follow the plan of operations, were shoot well and going there was not profitable, no shelters. Horyaynov group led to the alternate route. According to the observation it was found that the enemy was located in a separate building from the basement equipped as a bunker. Behind this building there was stationary point shooting with heavy machine gun "Utes". Next to a small concrete bunker was a fence, and behind him was himself mortar that hit the village Chermalyk. The group has not been able to launch an attack with machine gun nests attack because circumvent unnoticed stronghold was impossible and place was open. The soldiers entered the 120 meters distance to the object of attack. Everything was quiet.
In shock group of seven soldiers, including a lieutenant-commander Goryainov. Plaque was cocky, well thought-out. At 5.11 Lieutenant Goryainov gave the order to attack. Soldiers gave a volley of grenade on the tank and rushed forward - it was necessary to reduce the distance to get close to the bunker and destroy mortar calculation. Captain Lieutenant Goryainov led the men behind him, he ran ahead, beside the strong point of the commander discovered hour, which was about to open fire on the run and neutralized it before he had time to shoot. But the enemy was well prepared. For a second our soldiers reached the low stone fence, but began to run out of the bunker soldiers of the enemy, and take the defense.
Soldiers of the enemy had a high degree of readiness - were all in full uniform, with weapons, and they immediately opened fire when ran out of the bunker. Our soldiers beat on those runs. Horyaynov group reached the fence of concrete and mortar to the bunker was only 20 meters, but reaching it failed for our soldiers. Got into a fight at a short distance. At the beginning of the battle there was seriously wounded machine gunner of the group, he managed to release only one box.
Thanks to skillful actions, surprise factor and a high level of fire training, fire of our soldiers was very effective. Around the bunker there were at least 10-12 bodies enemies. However, the enemy continued to fire from the bunker loopholes, and new soldiers continued to run out of the bunker. It turned out that the bunker was not only the calculation of mortar with security, and many more soldiers. One of our fighters threw a grenade into the mortar. The task was completed. At this point, the enemy was able to take a position at the heavy machine gun.
The machine gun opened fire on the edge of the concrete fence, and our soldiers have had chances to overcome the space hopper. Suppressing the gun failed. AP bullets struck a fence, where the Horyaynov group was. Fence was breaking, and it did not stand for a while. Our soldiers began to end the ammunition. They had to retreat under enemy fire, the gun was not stopped, with full visibility, despite the fact that from the bunker 20 meters from Horyaynov group there was continued the fire.
The situation seemed to be disastrous for the whole group, a little time and all our soldiers die. At 5.29 Captain Lieutenant Goryainov gave the command to retreat. Group jerked, pulling the wounded gunner.
At the time of the departure Captain - Lieutenant Horyaynov attempted to destroy the enemy‘s machine gun to cover the withdrawal of other fighters. He took the fire all over to himself in order to cover the removal of wounded comrade. Captain Lieutenant Horyaynov received several fatal injuries and died a heroic death. He saved all of his men in a hopeless situation with his life.
The evacuation of the wounded gunner was successful. Command thanked the group for the destruction of the mortar and a combat mission. The enemy suffered from heavy losses. According to human intelligence, among destroyed enemies there were the citizens of the Russian Federation.
On 7 June, 2015 he was buried in the cemetery of the village Gnedin, Boryspil district of Kyiv region.
He was awarded the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III class (13.8.2015, posthumously), honors "National Hero of Ukraine" (06.23.2016, posthumously).
On 19 February, 2016 the street was named after his name in Kramatorsk Donetsk region.
