Laban‘ Roman Olehovych was the commander of the platoon of the 8th Operational Regiment of the Western Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine, Senior Lieutenant (posthumously).
He was born on 29 August, 1993 in the village Sutkivtsi, Yarmolinetsi district, Khmelnytsky region. In 2010, he graduated the secondary school of the village Sutkivtsi.
Since 2010, the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (from 2014 - National Guard of Ukraine). In 2014 graduated the National Academy of Internal Affairs (Kyiv). From 2014 he served as the commander of the platoon of the 8th Operational Regiment of the Western Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine (military unit 3028, the city Kalinivka, Vinnytsia region).
Since 2014 he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
On 17 February, 2015, the platoon of Lieutenant Laban` fulfilled the task of securing the withdrawal of anti-terrorist operations from the area of the city of Debaltsevo in the direction of the city of Artemivsk (now Bakhmut), Donetsk region. In the town Luhansk, Artemivsk (now - Bakhmutsky) district, Donetsk region, the unit fell under the fire of enemy artillery and tanks. The tank shell was torn several meters away from Lieutenant Laban, causing severe injury to the legs, chest and head, as well as contusion. The officer was given the first medical aid and was evacuated to the city Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) under fire, but it failed to save him.
On 20 February, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the village Sutkivtsi, Yarmolynetsi district, Khmelnytsky region.
He was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd class (25.03.2015; posthumously).

On 29 August, 2015, in the village Sutkivtsi, on the facade of the building of a secondary school (Soborna Street, 1), where Roman Laban studied, the memorial plaque was established. By the decision of Yarmolinetsi district council from 25 September, 2015, SutkivtsiSecondary School I-III levels was called after his name. On 6 September, 2016, a memorial to the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine who served in the military unit, including the name of the senior lieutenant Roman Laban, was established in Kalinivka, Vinnytsia region, on the territory of the 8th Operational Regiment.
