Lavrenko Oleksandr Mykolayovych was the commander of the 1st Panzer Company of the tank battalion of the 93rd individual mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Captain.
He was born on 9 March, 1983 in Lozova, Kharkiv region. In 2000 he graduated the secondary school №7 in Lozova.
Since 2000 he was in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2005, he graduated the Kharkiv Guards Orders of the Red Star Institute of Tank Troops of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute". Since 2005, he had the military service in the 93rd Detached Mechanized Brigade Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302, towns Cherkassy, Novomoskovsk district).
From 8 July, 2014, he participated in an anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
On 21 July, 2014 tank T-64, commanded by Captain Lavrenko, in the tank company with the support of mechanized platoon served a combat mission to capture and destroy terrorist base of operations near the village of Pesky, Yasinovata district, Donetsk region.
During the assignment, the tank, where captain Lavrenko was, moved in the head of the column, and first entered the checkpoint terrorists, which were two tanks and machine guns calculations, followed by a mortar battery and sniper positions militants. Battled The terrorists carried the tight fire from tanks and mortars.
During the battle, the tank of captain Lavrenko destroyed one tank of the enemy, another shot up. He also destroyed the machine gun calculations and two buses of terrorists who came to reinforcements from the city Donetsk.
During the mortar shelling, which began with the beginning of the battle, the crew of the infantry fighting vehicle BMP-2, which was moving in the column behind the tank, began to evacuate the wounded soldiers. Having captured the opponent‘s checkpoint, the tank crew of the T-64 fire of the tank gun and machine gun covered the actions of the mechanized unit and the evacuation group.
Using all the ammunition, tank captain Lavrenko didn`t leave the fight, first pushed the likely line of counterattack, broke the positions of the terrorists while destroying two mortar workers, but much seemed to be the main forces tank company.
Evacuating from the enemy‘s fire, the tank was hit a powerful bang, as a result of which members of the tank crew junior Sergeant Olexandr Vohromiev and soldier Andriy Kulyagin died. Being seriously injured, Captain Olexandr Lavrenko did not give up the enemy and did not allow the capture of a tank, blasting himself in a combat vehicle.
Thanks to the heroic, resolute and courageous actions of a tank crew led by Captain Olexandr Lavrenko able to prevent terrorists counter elite unit "Kalmius" that allowed units of battalion tactical groups of 93-th separate mechanized brigade consolidate and execute the combat tasks.
On 26 July, 2014 he was buried on the central avenue of the city cemetery Lozova.
On 13 October, 2015, in Lozova, on the facade of the building of the general school № 7 (microdistrict 3, 29), where Olexandr Lavrenko studied, the memorial plaque was established.
According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 388/2016 dated on 9 September, 2016, for the exceptional courage, heroism and self-sacrifice revealed in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the oath of power to Captain Lavrenko Oleksandr Mykolayovych was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the "Golden Star" (posthumously )
He was awarded "Gold Star" (09.09.2016, posthumously), the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III class (04.06.2015, posthumously), Order "National Hero of Ukraine" (06.23.2015, posthumously).
