Mel‘nyk Valeriy Pavlovych was the demolisher of the 9th company of the 30th individual mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the petty officer.
He was born on 23 March, 1970 in the village Sutiski, Tivrivsky District, Vinnytsia region. He graduated the high school.
He passed the regular military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the USSR.
On 13 August, 2014, the Vinnytsia Regional Military Commissariat mobilized him to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a sapper of the 9th Company of the 30th individual mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, the city Novograd-Volyn, Zhytomyr region).
In the autumn of 2014, he carried a service at checkpoints in the Kherson region on the administrative border with the occupied Russian troops of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
During the service at the checkpoints without ill-treatment, the petty officer Mel‘nyk had the developed illness. On 4 December, 2014, he was hospitalized. He was initially treated at the Novograd-Volyn Hospital in Zhytomyr region, and then at the Kiev Military Hospital. The soldier was diagnosed with the bilateral pneumonia and the stomach cancer. Doctors fought for Valeriy Mel‘nyk`s life, but their efforts proved to be in vain. On 10 February, 2015, he died after the prolonged treatment.
On 13 February, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the village Sukyski, Tyvriv district, Vinnytsia region.
