Ostapchuk Yaroslav Oleksandrovych was the senior mechanic driver of the intelligence platoon of the 30th individual mechanized brigade of the Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a soldier.
He was born on 6 December, 1980 in the city Novograd-Volyn, Zhytomyr region. He graduated the secondary school No.7 of Novograd-Volyn city.
He passed the regular military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He lived in the village Tesnovka, Novograd-Volyn district, Zhytomyr region. He worked as a mechanic.
In the spring of 2014 he was mobilized into the Armed forces of Ukraine. He served as the senior mechanic-driver of the intelligence platoon of the 30th individual mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0409, the city Novograd-Volyn, Zhytomyr region).
From spring-summer 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He was the participant in the fighting for strategically important height Savur-Mohyla (Shakhtarsky district, Donetsk region), behind the village Stepanivka, Shakhtarsk district, Donetsk region.
On 14 August, 2014, the soldier Ostapchuk died as a result of subversion of an infantry fighting vehicle (BMP) on landfills near the village Stepanivka, Shakhtarsk district, Donetsk region.
On 20 August, 2014 he was buried in the cemetery of the village Tesnovka, Novograd-Volyn district, Zhytomyr region.
He was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd class (05/15/2015; posthumously).
The wife and two sons are left.
On 13 October, 2015 in the city of Novograd-Volyn a memorial plaque was established on the building of the secondary school №7 (Zhytomyrska Street, 124) in honor of the graduates who died during the anti-terrorist operation in the east of Ukraine, including the name Yaroslav Ostapchuk.
