Maxim Savchenko was the deputy of the commander of the mortar battery of the 1st airborne assault battalion 95th separate airborne brigade of highly mobile airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the captain (posthumously).
He was born on March 5, 1989 in Magdeburg (Germany). Since 1992, he lived in Sumy. In 2006 he graduated the secondary school №7 city of Sumy.
Since 2006, he was in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2010 he graduated the Airborne Forces Intelligence and Hetman Sahaidachny Army Academy (Lviv) in "Fighting the use and management actions airborne units."
Since 2010, he served in the 95th separate airborne brigade of highly mobile airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0281 Town Zhytomyr).
In the spring of 2014 he took part in anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
On July 19, 2014 anti-terrorism forces conducted offensive operations on terrorist positions near the town of Lysychansk Luhansk region. During the battle, Maxim Savchenko received several bullet injuries incompatible with life.
On July 23, 2014 he was buried in the Alley of Glory Central Cemetery of Sumy.
On February 12, 2015 in Sumy on the facade of the building of secondary school №7 (Ukraine street Lesya, 23), where Maxim Savchenko studied, the memorial plaque was established.
On September 29, 2015 during the session of the Sumy city council made a decision on awarding a secondary school №7 named after Maxim Savchenko.
He was awarded the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III degree (14/11/2014, posthumous) award "People‘s Hero of Ukraine" (07.23.2015, posthumously), Honorary Citizen of Sumy (29/09/2015, posthumously).
