Shumak Maksym Vasyl‘ovych was the serviceman of the 53rd individual mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a soldier.
He was born on 2 October, 1991 in the city Tokmak, Zaporizhya region. He graduated the Tokmak secondary school.
On 7 July, 2015, the Tokmak Unified City Military Commissariat of Zaporizhya region mobilized him into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served at the 53rd separate mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit В0927, city Severodonetsk / Lisichansk, Luhansk region).
He participated in the antiterrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
On 12 August, 2016, at about 23:40, soldier Shumak suffered a severe, fractured wound in the chest during the artillery and mortar shelling of the Ukrainian forces under the residential area of Mayorsk (northern outskirts of the city Horlovka, Donetsk region). The serviceman was taken to a hospital in the city Bakhmut, Donetsk region, where he died of wounds about 3 am on 13 August, 2016.
On 17 August, 2016 he was buried in Tokmak city cemetery.
He was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd class (27.10.2016; posthumously).
