Snitko Andriy was the policeman of the battalion patrol special police "Azov" Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine, the ordinary police.
He was born on 25 January, 1996 in the village Horaymivka, Manevychi district, Volyn region. At age 11 the boy was left as an orphan after having raised in foster care of the village Manevichi, Manevychi district, Volyn region. Since 2008, he studied at the secondary school №1 of village Manevichi, graduated in 2013 and joined the Institute of Physical Education Eastern National University named after Lesya Ukrainka of Lutsk city, Volyn region.
Since the beginning of the revolution of dignity, which covered the entire country, Andrew was an active member. And since the beginning of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, he could not be apart of these events, went to the military commissariat to voluntarily sign up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but he was refused. Then he left university studies and went to Kyiv to enroll into the volunteer battalion "Azov".
In May 2014 he voluntarily joined the battalion patrol special police "Azov" Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. While serving in the battalion "Azov" he received the call sign "Homa".
He participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.
During July - August 2014 he participated in the liberated city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, where he showed the courage during combat missions.
On 20 August, 2014 the unit that included Andrew "Homa" Snitko, performed a combat mission to liberate the city Ilovaysk Donetsk region from terrorists. When stripping buildings, a group of soldiers, led by Andriy, fell into an ambush, and almost immediately they fell under the feet grenade. Andrew did not hesitate a moment, fell on a grenade and thus saved the lives of two of his colleagues at the cost of his own life.
On 24 August, 2014 he was buried in the cemetery of village Manevichi, Volyn region.
On 25 January, 2015 in the village of Manevichi on the facade of the building of secondary school №1 (street Komarov, 6), where Andriy Snitko studied , he the memorial plaque was established.
On 9 October, 2015 according to decision of the District Council Manevychi Volyn region, the secondary school №1 of village Manevichi was renamed after Andriy Snitko.
On 18 December, 2015 according to the decision of the village council session Manevychi Karl Marx street was renamed after Andriy Snitko.
He was awarded "National Hero of Ukraine" (03.26.2016, posthumously).
According to Decree of the President of Ukraine №515 / 2016 of 21 November 2016 for personal courage and heroism in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, devoted service to Ukrainian people party anti-terrorist operations - Andriy Volodymyrovych Snitko was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the order of "Golden Star" (posthumously).
