Mykola Davydov was a tank operator and gunner with the 93rd Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, holding the rank of Sergeant Major.
He was born on May 12, 1975, in the village of Pechyny, Trostianets District, Sumy Region. He graduated from Pechyny Village Secondary School, then attended Trostianets Vocational School (now the State Vocational Educational Institution “Trostianets Vocational Lyceum”), where he earned a degree in “tractor driving.” Later, he completed his studies at Sumy Agrarian University (now Sumy National Agrarian University), obtaining a degree in “mechanization.”
He served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since 2007, Mykola Davydov worked as a forest feller at the Neskuchne Forestry of the State Enterprise “Trostianets Forestry.”
On August 15, 2014, he was conscripted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There, Mykola Davydov served as a gunner-operator of a tank in the Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1302, Cherkaske urban-type settlement, Novomoskovsk District, Dnipropetrovsk Region).
Mykola Davydov participated in Ukraine‘s anti-terrorist operation.
On June 30, 2015, at approximately 8:35–9:15 PM, in the village of Pisky, Yasynuvate District, Donetsk Region, Sergeant Major Davydov exited his tank and, along with other servicemen, was heading for shelter when the mortar attack began. As a result of the shelling, he sustained severe shrapnel wounds. He was evacuated to a hospital in Selydove, Donetsk Region, where doctors fought to save his life, but their efforts were in vain. Sergeant Major Davydov succumbed to his injuries on July 1, 2015, at around 3:00 AM.
On July 3, 2015, he was laid to rest in the Central Cemetery of Trostianets, Sumy Region.
Mykola Davydov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, Third Grade, on January 16, 2016.
He is survived by his mother, wife, and two daughters.
